5 Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Local Business
I'm looking outside my window and seeing ... well rain. But through the rain is green grass, a newly budding bushe and azalea flowers peaking out in pinks and purples! It's spring!
Many businesses rely on spring to create budding in their business revenue - Landscapers, Exterminators, Weight Loss Centers...just to name a few.
The change in seasons brings out our need to rid ourselves of weeds, critters and excess pounds. But we also need to rid ourselves of the winter blahs and the best way to do that is to spruce up your business.
Here are 5 tips to do a little spring cleaning for your business:
Clean up your space! Tax season has passed and hopefully you have begun to find your desk again. This is the perfect time to include your home office and your business office in your spring cleaning schedule. File, purge files, reorganize. A perfect opportunity to visit Staples, The Container Store and Home Depot to spruce up your space.
Walk it off! The rail trail, walk way and parks are open for business and there are some beautiful days to get out and enjoy nature. You can also join a local non-profit organization to walk (or run) for a good cause. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and create new relationships and opportunities. Giving back to the community is a great way to plant seeds for future business relationships!
Visit someone special! You probably already have a portfolio of clients. When is the last time you saw them? If you were hibernating for the winter, getting out and visiting your clients is a great way to reconnect. Can they use additional services you offer? Do they know about the NEW services you added? Do they know anyone that could use your services? Can they provide feedback on how you can offer them more of what they need?
Search Engine Optimize! Your website could also use some sprucing up, right? Check for broken links and update your content. Make sure your pricing, hours, phone numbers and staff information is correct. Then add at least 1 new page of value-add content for your target customer audience. These quick steps will add to your SEO and help customers find you when doing their own spring cleaning.
Clean out your inbox! You gave your email for savings. To get on the company VIP list for newest products. You loved that seminar so you registered for the newsletter. You wanted the free e-book so shared your email. Now all of a sudden, each morning you are DELETING 10-20-30-MORE emails looking for the few that you want to read. Even Google offers an "important" button because so much of what we get.. well, isn't. You can use a service like Unroll.me to clean out all the items you wanted at one time but don't any more. Check out their video on their website for the full story.
